The EMIA Debt, Sustainability and Governance Forum

As CFO of Kulicke & Soffa from 2010 to 2018, Jonathan Chou oversaw all financial matters for this leading electronic assembly and semiconductor packaging company. Jonathan Chou currently serves as independent non-executive director/chair of the audit committee with the Microport Scientific Corp., and board member/chair of the finance committee for the Emerging Markets Investors Alliance.

Providing accurate data to promote responsible financial investment, the Emerging Markets Investors Alliance (EMIA) is dedicated to good governance, sustainable development, and solid gain generation. To further these goals, it has developed multiple live and online events.

One of the EMIA’s latest series is the Debt, Sustainability and Governance Forum. This online speaker series launched June 4, 2020, with a speech by Paris Club secretary-general Schwan Badirou-Gafari, and continued later that month with a speech by World Bank Group vice president for equitable growth, finance and institutions Ceyla Pazarbasioglu.

The guiding mission of the Debt, Sustainability and Governance Forum is to engage finance leaders and experts in productive discussions of the debt crisis that is plaguing emerging markets.

About Jonathan Chou

A C-Level Executive, Jonathan Chou has fulfilled the role of CFO for both private and public companies for three decades. As part of this work experience, Jonathan Chou served as the CFO of Kulicke & Soffa Industries, a top provider of electronics assembly and semiconductor packaging solutions. His accomplishments in the position include playing an integral role in nearly doubling the company's revenue to $809 million and driving its share price from $7.20 to more than $28.00 between 2010 and 2017. Additionally, he implemented a business tax restructuring project that successfully lowered its effective tax rate.

Throughout his career, Jonathan Chou has fulfilled multiple board roles, and he is currently an advisor on the finance committee of the Board of Directors of the Emerging Markets Investors Alliance, a nonprofit for institutional emerging market investors committed to ethical and sustainable investment performance. In this voluntary position, Mr. Chou focuses on finding new ways to strengthen the organization's financial systems, procedures, and policies. He also serves on the Boards of such entities as Microport Scientific Corp., Duke Alumni Association, and the East Asia Advisory Board of Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
